If Jammin’ Jars elevated itself to the rank of classic, its sequel Jammin’ Jars 2 and, broadly speaking, Retro Tapes Cluster Link, while first-rate games in their own right, did not make as favorable an impression. As a result, the approach to reviewing Giga Jar Cluster Link was a bit more cautious than it might have been, in an attempt to temper enthusiasm and avoid having inflated expectations shattered by disappointing reality.
The good news is that Giga Jar Cluster Link did shatter expectations, but in a positive way. In fact, in the plural. For one thing, it didn’t seem as tedious as Jammin’ Jars 2 could have been. Cascades were plentiful, wild pitchers fell out at fairly frequent intervals, and even a giga pitcher appeared within the first few hundred spins or so. Of course, there may have been some luck involved here, and others’ experiences may vary widely, but Giga Jar Cluster Link was nowhere near as challenging a game as Jammin’ Jars 2 could have been. On the other hand, the average volatility and more primitive 10,000 times the bet maximum winnings may mean that this game is not «basic» enough for some hardcore gamers. Nevertheless, the test session was surprisingly positive and somehow brought back memories of playing Fire Hopper. Maybe the fun factor?
What helped win Giga Jar Cluster Link is the incredible pace of play. Three consecutive cascades and you’ve got a Wild Jar, a few more and you’ve got three Wild Jars, and maybe the Giga Jar will make itself known. Sprinkled here and there with two side features, Icebreaker and Snowball, Giga Jar Cluster Link is well balanced between teasing and rewarding. Sure, there was teasing going on during the review, getting to one or two wins to trigger Giga Jar and the like, and there could have been dead spins. However, that’s not enough to make much of a difference in the enjoyment level of Giga Jar Cluster Link. It may amount to foul play on the slot, but Giga Jar Cluster Link’s bright, fun mood and downright fun features combined with the original Jammin’ Jars give it a hell of a head start.
